The organizers of the Tonkawa Film Festival are excited to announce a special screening, Friday May 21st at 9PM, of the film ‘We Are What We Are’ directed by Jim Mickle (Hap & Leonard, Cold in July, In The Shadow of the Moon) starring Bill Sage (American Psycho, Precious, Wrong Turn, The Pale Door), Ambyr Childers (The Master, All My Children, Ray Donovan) and Julia Garner (Ozark, The Assistant, Waco). This dark thriller introduces us to the Parkers, a reclusive family who follow ancient customs, who find their secret existence threatened as a torrential downpour moves into their area, forcing daughters Iris (Childers) and Rose (Garner) to assume responsibilities beyond those of a typical family.
The screening will be followed by a live virtual Q&A with the film’s star Bill Sage. And video introduction by film director Jim Mickle. Short films in competition will screen over two days, finishing with an awards ceremony for category winners, including Best of Fest winner who will receive $500 cash. The public is also invited to attend the one-of-a-kind Tonkawa Film Festival parade through downtown Tonkawa, highlighting our visiting filmmakers from across the country on Saturday, May 22nd at 12PM.
Tickets are available for $10/person each day or $15/person for both days. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.TonkawaFilmFestival.com
