Tonkawa Board of Education met Monday August 9, 2021 when President Casey McAninch called the meeting to order at 5:30pm. Members present Cara Beth Johnson, Nancy Appleman, and Brian Bowling. Jerry Hook was absent. Staff included Lori Simpson, Jona Cantrell, Jennifer Murphy, Kyle Simpson and Kelly Martin. Guest included Reece Simpson.
Cara Beth Johnson made a motion seconded by Nancy Appleman to approve the minutes of June 30, 2021. Motion carried. McAninch-yes, Johnson-yes, Appleman-yes, and Bowling-yes.
Cara Beth Johnson made a motion seconded by Casey McAninch to approve the following PO encumbrances General Fund #43-88 ($74,405.77) and Payroll #50001-50090 ($4,830,397.79) Totaling $4,904,803.56. Motion carried. McAninch-yes, Johnsonyes, Appleman-yes, and Bowling-abstain.
Cara Beth Johnson made a motion seconded by Casey McAninch to approve the following PO encumbrance Building Fund #3-4 ($73,719.59) Child Nutrition #3 ($123.00) Bond Fund 31 #1 ($539,250.00) Totaling $613,092.59. Motion carried. McAninchyes, Johnson-yes, Appleman-yes, and Bowling-yes.
Nancy Appleman made a motion, seconded by Cara Beth Johnson to approve the Activity Fund balances and transfer of $2,000 from activity fund 822 HS STUCO into activity fund 828 MH STUCO. Motion carried. McAninch-yes, Johnson-yes, Applemanyes, and Bowling-yes.

Board appointed Nancy Appleman as minute’s secretary for executive session. Brian Bowling made a motion seconded by Cara Beth Johnson to go in to executive session at 6:02pm for the purpose of:
• To discuss the salary of the superintendent for the 2021- 22 school year so the board can return to open session and vote to adjust the superintendent’s salary beginning in the 2021-22 school year

A motion made by Nancy Appleman seconded by Casey McAninch to approve a cooperative agreement for mental health needs between Tonkawa Public Schools and Timberlake Public School. Motion carried. McAninch-yes, Johnson-yes, Appleman-yes, and Bowling-yes.
