Hospice of North Central Oklahoma recently honored three employees with milestone anniversaries. Mike Sweetman and Gerry Correll both celebrated 20 years, and Cathy Denning celebrated 10 years with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.
Mike Sweetman came to work for Hospice of North Central Oklahoma 20 years ago as a chaplain. Mr. Sweetman is a native Oklahoman and has called Ponca City his home for the past 20 years. He is married and has three children. Mr. Sweetman has a BA in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master’s in Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mr. Sweetman retired from the Army Reserve where he served as a Chaplain Activities Specialist for 21 years. In his spare time, Mr. Sweetman enjoys hunting, fishing and back-packing.
Geraldine (Gerry) Correll came to work for Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in 2000 and has worked in the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) department since joining the organization. Mrs. Correll celebrated her 20 year anniversary with Hospice in January 2020. However, her celebration was delayed due to COVID-19. Mrs. Correll is a native of Ponca City. She and her husband, the late Bill Correll, were married 63 years. Mrs. Correll states that her “great grandchildren” are her priority, but she also enjoys playing bingo, taking walks and going out to eat in her spare time. She is an active member of 1st Lutheran Church. Mrs. Correll states that she “feels blessed to be part of the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma family” and is “honored to help the families we serve”.
Cathy Denning began her career with Hospice of NCO the first time in 2000. She took a short “break” and returned in June 2010. Mrs. Denning is a native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma but attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville Tennessee, where she graduated with a BA in Social Work. Mrs. Denning and her husband live in Tonkawa. In her spare time, Mrs. Denning enjoys scrapbooking, and working with young people in her church teaching religious education and arts and crafts. She also likes to cook and spend time with her family taking road trips.
Both Mr. Sweetman and Mrs. Denning are part of the Family Service Department. They both play a key role in the Community Bereavement and the Children’s Grief programs.
