The Kay County Farm Bureau board of directors and the Women’s Leadership Committee recently donated money to the Wheatheart Nutrition Project with Oklahoma Farm Bureau matching the donation.Oklahoma Farm Bureau is promoting the second annual Community Food Assistance Matching Program to connect county Farm Bureaus with their community. Counties are encouraged to host a food drive, shop for food or provide a monetary donation to a local food assistance program. OKFB will match any donation up to $100.00 to the food assistance program of choice.Farmers and ranchers across Oklahoma create food, fiber and fuel and Oklahoma Farm Bureau members understand the importance of giving back to their communities.Lisa Freeman and Lesley Miller, Co-Directors of the Wheatheart Nutrition Project in the Blackwell office said the money will be used toward feeding seniors in the eight counties they serve in North Central Oklahoma. The organization serves midday meals, promotes social activities, and offer support and outreach services to persons aged sixty and older.
