Hey, Tonkawa!
I decided not to do Buc of the Week because I want to take the time to express my appreciation.
During spring break, only a few hours before it was announced that school would be cancelled for two weeks, I bought my last prom dress. Although the news was shocking, I was sure things would continue as planned after those weeks. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
On April 18th, I had planned to attend my senior prom. Due to the circumstances, it had been cancelled. I was crushed. The thought of not being able to go one more time really disappointed me. I know it seems silly, but those things matter when you are a senior in high school. Those memories matter.
Last month, it was made known that there would be a formal dance put on by multiple parents. I was so excited! Finally, I would be able to wear my dress that I bought months ago. I would be able to attend my last prom. Some of the money to fund the dance came out of these parent’s pockets, and some from generous donations. These parents, out of the kindness of their hearts, put together an amazing dance! It took place at the beautiful Big V Ranch. The decorations were gorgeous. I had a wonderful time, and we danced the night away.
I could not be more thankful for these great people. Their kindness is beyond comparison. When things get tough, Tonkawa always pulls through. These parents saw the upset, and worked to fix it. Some towns and cities do not have this type of community support. There are juniors and seniors out there who did not get to experience their prom this year. I am beyond appreciative of our gracious community. I hope to one day give back as much as you have all given to me.
