What you believe is vitally important? It is the key to eternal life! You know John 3:16 says “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever - everyone “who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.” “Indeed”, the next verse says, “God sent the Son (His Son) into the world - in order that the world might be saved through Him” - Not condemned, but saved! Hundred of years before Christ was born, perhaps fifteen hundred, God called Abraham and told him to leave his country where he was living - leave his father’s home and family, and go wherever God would take him - a new land, a new country - and God would bless him if he obeyed. And Abraham believed God - He didn’t just believe in God. He already believed there was a God, but now he believed God. He believed God’s word! And he obeyed God’s word. When you hear God’s word you can do one of two things: You can believe God’s word or NOT believe God’s Word. And you can obey God’s word, or NOT obey God’s word. We always have a choice: we can believe or not, and we can obey it or not. The choice is ours - and it is a vital choice - life’s most important decision. Abraham made that vitally important decision. He could have said, “why should I do that? I’m comfortable here; I have land and home and family here. “No, thanks God!” You’re just asking too much. You send someone else.” That would have been easier, wouldn’t it? The way that is seems better than “What?”, “Where?”, “Why?”, “How?” All these questions, and you just have to step out in faith, believe in God, and go. And you know what? He will go with you - all the way.

Helping veterans...

A PTSD Support Group for veterans of all ages meets at the American Legion in Ponca City every second and fourth Wednesday at 6 p.m. Questions? Call Allen Teten at 580- 716-3529.

McCarter museum hours given

The McCarter Museum is open from 1-3 p.m. each Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Other times for tours or visiting may be made by calling (580) 761- 7576 or any of the numbers listed on the door. Visitors are always welcome.

Welcome Home Quilts info given

Welcome Home Quilts is a group of 3 women trying to provide a quilt for the Veterans and Active service men and women in the Tonkawa Area. The 3 women are Kipann Gottman, Patricia Levings McCune & Sherry Jeffries Fields. To date, there have been over 60 quilts made and presented to Vets, Active service men, policemen and firemen. It takes about $100 - $125 worth of materials to make a quilt. If you would like to sponsor a quilt, we will need the name, branch of military, service dates. This is a great way to honor our servicemen and women. We would like to thank those that have contributed to Welcome Home Quilts so far. Dear Tonkawa, How are you? It’s hard right now, believe me I know. I’ve been thinking for quite some time about what I’d like to say to you today. You’ve been on my mind, and in my prayers. I know things are rough and bumpy during these times, but I am hopeful.

Buffet breakfast Saturdays

Fly-in/walk-in buffet breakfast is held the first Saturday of every month, rain or shine, from 7-10 a.m. at the Ponca City Regional Airport. Proceeds go to the Ponca City Aviation Foundation which benefits aviation education, scholarships, needy kids, and the airport. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
