Wednesday, November 23rd, 1938 – Tuesday, November 28th, 2023 Melton, Thomas Shelby, 85, passed away Tuesday, November 28th, 2023. Thomas was born November 23, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia to Marvin Burford “Bus” Melton and Marie Ellen Ankrum Melton.

He served in evangelistic, pastoral, and inner city ministries in Charleston, WV & Fairfax, Va. In 1973, Tom came to Wichita, KS to serve as associate pastor and bus minister at Open Door Baptist Church in Haysville. He later served as an associate pastor and pastor to the Senior Adults at Midway Baptist Church in Wichita. Tom served as Director of Men’s Recovery Program at the Union Rescue Mission. Tom and Marilynn served as State Representatives for Celebrate Recovery Kansas. Tom was an Army veteran and also worked at Plessy in Wellington, KS and later worked and retired at Boeing Aircraft Company. Tom held degrees from Appalachian Bible College, West Virginia State, & Barclay College.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dawna Carol Murphy; two brothers, Gary and Richard Melton; former wife, Marilyn M. Melton and infant son, Jeffrey Wayne Melton. Thomas is survived by his wife, Marilynn K. Melton; brother, Larry (Peggy) Melton; sister-in-law, Delores “Dee” Melton; sons, Thomas Anthony (Lori) Melton, Mark A. (Janet) Melton, Michael A. (Alison) Melton, Michael G. (Carol) Melton, Terry “Rob” (Rebecca) Melton; daughters, Michelle (Rick) Daine, Catherine (Duane) Dominy, Lisa (Erik) Pederson, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial Service was 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Belle Plaine, 612 N Linden Belle Plaine, Kansas.
