Grace Elizabeth Sutton

Grace Elizabeth Sutton passed away at home in Columbia MO with family present on February 6, 2023. She celebrated her 90th birthday in December.

Grace was born December 4, 1932 in Tulsa, OK to Render Lewis (Doc) Crowder and Sylvia Edgington Crowder of Tonkawa, OK. She studied and received her degree in art at the University of Tulsa. After college she married Thaddeus Sutton and lived many places during his time in the US Navy.

She loved art, she painted primarily oil and watercolor, and loved charcoal drawing, as well as assisting in children’s arts classes and art projects, reading, gardening, music, baking, sewing and had a passion for animals. She loved all creatures furry and throughout her life had many pets including horses, dogs, cats, bunnies, and other animals.

She was a resident of Columbia MO for the last 20 years, and a longtime resident of Tonkawa OK and member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ponca City OK prior to moving to Columbia.

She is survived by her sister Sue Dowling, her daughters Sylvia and Tessa Sutton, granddaughter Tori Reddick and spouse Dane Reddick, grandson Hunter Verhoven and spouse Amy Verhoven, three beautiful great grandchildren, her niece Sylvia Lessley, nephew Garth Dowling, and great niece Paige Dillard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her great nephew Cameron Lessley.

Grace had a wonderful sense of humor, great sense of style, and generous nature. She was a wonderful mother, beloved aunt and grandmother.

She was loved deeply and will be dearly missed.
