Mary Lou Rice

Mary Lou (Mills) Rice was born January 5, 1944 in Enid,

OK to Eugene and Ruby Mills.

She grew up in Tonkawa, OK, and attended school in Tonkawa, graduating from Tonkawa

High School in 1962 as class

Valedictorian. She attended N.

O. C. for 2 years before transferring to O. U., graduating from O. U. In 1966 with a degree in Music Education.

Mary Lou taught music in Arlington, Texas for 7 1/2 years.

In 1967, she married the most blessed man in the world, John

Rice of Edmond. John also has music degrees, and together, they served churches in Texas,

Missouri and Oklahoma as

Minister of Music and Organist or Pianist. Together, Mary Lou and John Rice also were Realtors in Edmond for 22 years, while serving a church part time.

Mary Lou moved to Heaven on June 26, after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Miles and Joe Mills. She is survived by her husband, John Rice and a son, Brett Rice his wife Lisa, and grandsons Kyle, Tyler and

Brady. She is also survived by a second son, Shawn Rice and a granddaughter, Brooklyn. She is survived by a host of friends.

For decades, Mary Lou battled a rare immune system disorder called CREST Syndrome. For the past 9 months, she has bravely battled cancer.

The Memorial Service was at 11:00 a.m., July 8, 2019 at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N. May Ave., Edmond, Oklahoma.
