Clinton Evans

Clinton Evans was born on September 13, 1926 at Enid, Oklahoma to Levi “Sonny” and Ivy (Crain) Evans and passed away on June 26, 2019 at his home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma at the age of 92 with family and friends by his side.

A celebration of his life was held on July 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Life Church in Tonkawa, his nephew, Phillip Vinson officiating and Pastor, Josh Reese assisting. He was laid to rest at the IOOF Cemetery in Tonkawa, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Evans. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce Burright of Tuttle,OK and brother-in-law, Doug Hawke of Grand Junction, CO as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.

Clinton was in the United States Navy 1944 - 1946 serving in WWII in the Pacific Theater. The most mentioned service by Clinton was on the USS Filimore (APA-83). Clinton earned a Victory Medal; American Campaign Metal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Metal; and a Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon. Clinton married Wilma Clancy, on January 30, 1949 in Cleo Springs, OK. Later Clinton and Wilma moved to Towner, Colorado where Clinton started a successful farming operation.

In 1986 after several years in eastern Colorado, Clinton and Wilma decided it was time for them to move to Tonkawa where they would be close to their aging parents. Clinton and Wilma checked on their parents daily and helped them with life chores while they lived. Clinton was Bible teacher for the Friendly Sunday School class at Christian Life Church for many years. Clinton was a student of the Bible, and lived in a way that demonstrated Godly principles by his lifestyle.
