The City of Tonkawa will be going up on its trash rates about 20% at the August meeting, it was decided at the July 20 meeting of the mayor and council.
Twice a week pickup will remain in place, thanks to the dedication Davis Sanitation has to its hometown residents.
City Manager Kirk Henderson said the city has had a contract with Davis since 2004 and this is only the second rate increase in 17 years. “They’ve treated us more than fair,” Henderson said, “I want to thank them for being a good partner for the city.”
A resolution is being prepared by City Attorney Bryce Kennedy that will be presented at the August meeting of the group detailing the new rates.
