Benefit for Linda Williams June 9
A Sunday luncheon June 9 will benefit Linda Williams of Tonkawa. She is fighting lymphoma at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas. she and David have been in Houston since the first week of February for treatments. The community is wanting to help them with accommodations, food and transportation. The luncheon fundraiser and bake sale will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9 at the Methodist Church Family Center. Cost is $9 for pulled pork, chips, drink and dessert. cash, check, credit card and paypal are accepted.
Tonkawa softball camp June 10-12
A Tonkawa softball camp will be held June 10-12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the high school softball field, according to Coach kelsey Smith.
It will be for those entering K-5th grades. The camp will work on catching, throwing, hitting, fielding, base running, etc. Forms are available at the high school and elementary offices. Donate to weight room project
The Tonkawa Alumni Association is conducting a fund drive for the 2019 weight room project for Buccaneer athletics, president David Fruits said this week. Make checks payable to the Tonkawa Alumni Association, P.O. Box 12, Tonkawa, OK 74653.
Firemen testing hydrants this month
The Tonkawa Fire Department will be testing hydrants during the month of May and the first half of June. Fire Chief/EMS Director Justin Kienzle made the announcement.

GED classes are held on NOC campus
Adult Basic and High School Equivalency (Formerly GED) classes are being held at NOC Campus; Wednesdays 5 – 8 p.m. in Wilkin Hall Room 121. Call 580-718-4319 for more info.
IOOF Cemetery needs donations
The IOOF Cemetery is in need of donations to continue operation of the cemetery, Garry Davis announced this week. Brent Bailey is caretaker. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 121 with checks made to the Tonkawa Cemetery for upkeep.
Davis said money is short because of fewer funerals.
Storm siren testing Monday
Every Monday at 1 p.m. the Tonkawa storm sirens will be tested.
