50 years ago, November 2, 1972Seven Tonkawans Named For Jury DutyNotices were sent to 125 Kay County residents the past week notifying them to appear for duty during a jury term of District Court scheduled for November 5 through 17.Eighty-nine prospective jurors are from Ponca City, 21 from Blackwell, seven from Tonkawa, four from Newkirk, two from Braman and one each from Nardin and rural Hunnewell, Kan.Receiving jury summons from Tonkawa were: James D. Corbin, Nancy Jean Porter, Marvin Purdy, Rosa Schug, Furman Simmons, William White, Calvin Willerton.Perfect Entry Wins Football Contest For JamesChuck James, 306 West Grand, topped all entrants in last week’s Football Contest as he picked the only perfect entry. He correctly picked the Missouri upset over Colorado last weekend. He is the winner of the $7.50 cash prize.Six other entrants missed one game, all picked Colorado to win over Missouri. Closest on the tie-breaker and claiming second prize money of $5.00 cash is Sheila Ingmire, 204 North Main.Third place winner of $2.50 cash is Marilyn Pendleton, 507 North Seventh. Others who missed a single game but did not get close enough on the tie-breaker to claim a prize were: Cindy Schatz, 301 North Eleventh; Frank Schneider, 619 North Ninth; Susan Blackburn, 523 E.
